peanut butter play dough

This weekend was REALLY crappy weather in Bend. Not really rainy, snowy, or terribly windy - just downright brisk. That kept me wanting to stay inside all day today. And Weredesh has been fighting a nasty cold, so we took to playing indoors. A girlfriend of mine mentioned play dough to me the other day and I got to thinking...has my child never played with play dough? Have I been depriving her of this childhood staple? OH NO!!! Bad mommy, bad mommy...

So I got online and found a really fun recipe for peanut butter play dough! SO easy to make!

1/2 cup peanut butter
2 Tbsp honey
1/2 cup flour

And that's it!

And I have to say, I thought it had EXCELLENT texture. The nice thing is that there's absolutely nothing toxic. Shoot, she could eat the whole damn thing if she were inclined to. And yes, she did take a few nibbles. I even tried it myself. The thing that surprised me is that she played with this play dough for 2.5 hours straight! From nap until dinner! I've never seen her focused on any one thing for that amount of time. I couldn't believe how much she was into it. These are the days I've been longing for. When we can hang out and have a relaxing afternoon with an art project or something creative and have some quality mommy/daughter time. Actually, daddy might have had more fun than all of us. ;)

Had to get her hands on that little doggie.

A bit smooshed doggie, but all complete with "shoop" made of dental floss. :)
