We received our marriage certificates the other day, and actually it was the two I sent for about 5 weeks ago. One of them is authenticated for our dossier for Ethiopia. So, I guess the one I sent for last week will just be an extra. Oh well...there's nothing wrong with having an extra lying around if you ever need it. Today, I'm waiting to receive an email from Radu with the address of where we are to send our immigration paperwork. The I-600A form we file is a petition in advance to bring an orphan from another country into the United States. It goes to the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services), and after they receive it they will contact us with our appointment for biometric services (fingerprinting - FBI check). I believe we have to go to Portland for this appointment. Once we are fingerprinted, we just wait to receive our I-171H form which shows that we are approved to bring our baby to Bend. :)
We then have to take all of our paperwork (except marriage and birth certificates - birth certificates are currently in the process in Sacramento) to Salem for authentication. THEN all of our paperwork will be done and ready to send off! In the meantime, our little puppy, Ayla, is sure giving us a test of parenthood. GEEZ! We forgot how challenging it is to raise a puppy! For some reason I think it HAS to be easier to raise a child! ; ) We're worn out already!
