what a messed up weekend! UGH!

On Thursday Weredesh came down with the flu (vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, dry cough) and we are STILL battling it around here (it's now Sunday night). Cory has the flu, I'm fighting it, and we are still trying to keep Weredesh's fever down. I feel like we live in a huge petrie dish and need to fumigate this place in order to get rid of the crud here. Yesterday I did laundry all day to wash the barf out of all the blankets, clothes, washed the sheets, towels, etc. We've had 3 nights of ZERO sleep because our poor lil' girl coughs all night long and there's not really anything that helps. We thought that she was better this morning - she had good energy, no fever, played outside. And then this afternoon the fever came back with a vengeance at 103. So we are all taking the day off tomorrow for another day of rest. And today was a longgg day...at least our friend Chrissy brought us extra Nyquil, juice, and some spaghettios. :)

Here's a little clip of my sickies napping yesterday. You know Weredesh isn't feeling well if she actually SLEEPS with daddy and doesn't just climb on him the entire time. I had to take a video because I didn't want to wake them up with taking a picture and the flash going off.

On the flip side, I've been around the house SO MUCH lately that I worked on a few little projects that have been bugging me around the house. After my last post I thought twice and realized that it was time for Weredesh to give up her "boo ny nyte" and get into somewhat of a big girl bed. Considering she barely fit in the thing anymore. While I was out shopping last week I found this little bed tent on sale for $15 - what a find! We moved the "boo ny nyte" out of her room yesterday and made her tent bed. She LOVED it! It was a nice diversion from sitting around feeling sick all day. And it is SO cute in her room! She kept walking around saying "my tent is awesome!" And she slept in it all night, no problem whatsoever. She was so ready for a bed. Well, it's not really a bed, but her old crib mattress, which I kept when I sold the crib on Craigslist last year. It works perfectly on the floor and is much longer than "boo ny nyte." I also don't have to worry much about her falling out of it. Check out these adorable pics:

She was so excited about it that while I was in the shower today, she changed into her pj's and put HERSELF down for a nap this afternoon! WOW!

She's also been getting up way too early lately (6:30am) and I ordered this clock that I'd had my eye on for awhile. She (and we) LOVE it! The face changes color to yellow when it's time for her to get up (we have it set for 7am). It's blue when it's time for sleep. It also plays bedtime music, you can set it for naptimes, and plays bedtime stories too. This thing is awesome. It can even be used for timeouts (it turns red and you can set a timer). It was a little pricey (at $40), but well worth it. She totally gets that she can't get out of bed until the clock turns yellow. I also love that it's an analog clock, since so many kids don't learn how to tell time anymore. Being a math teacher, this is one thing that drives me nuts. You wouldn't believe how many 5th GRADERS can't tell time!
