I know it's a bit late, but Happy Thanksgiving! Ours had happy moments, but I wouldn't exactly call it a happy week in the Zeltins family. We left last Sunday for San Diego to visit Cory's family - his mom and grandparents on his mother's side, and all of his family on his father's side. It was really good to see everyone again...
However, Monday Weredesh came down with a fever and was sick the ENTIRE week. Her fever was pesky and peaked out Wednesday at 103.7. At first we thought it was teething, but when the fever hit its peak we knew it was something more. H1N1? I'm not sure. It was stressful to say the least, being away from home and getting ZERO sleep that week. She refused to sleep in her crib and slept like a rock as long as she was in bed with us (of which I don't know HOW parents co-sleep with their children - lying in bed listening to a snoring child that kicks you in the ribs is not exactly my idea of a good night's sleep). And the whole week she ate practically nothing. Even her teacher said today that she noticed she's thinner. But we did have fun moments in between the stressful ones, and when Weredesh's fever was down, she was actually very happy and acting pretty normal, but it took round the clock med's and temperature monitoring to keep it at bay. Of course by Friday she was back to her old crazy self and finally eating again. :)
Looking on the bright side, we were VERY lucky that there was an empty seat on every connecting flight so that we could put Weredesh's car seat in a seat (highly recommended). There's no way she would have sat on our laps all that time. (This was the last week she can fly for free as a lap baby by the way- she turns 2 tomorrow!) Oh, and the laptop came in handy too so that she could sit and watch her favorite music videos (Laurie Berkner Band and Choo Choo Soul). She's actually a pretty good traveler.
One of the highlights of our trip was meeting Mona and her little one, Janissa. Janissa is from the same orphanage and 18 months old. Mona has been following this blog from the early beginnings - can't wait until we meet up again. The girls were SO cute together! Pictures to come soon...
And of course with San Diego came lots of beach time and warming our bones in the sun. We often wonder why we moved from San Diego....although when you get off the plane and breathe in the fresh air and can feel the peacefulness that surrounds you here in Central Oregon, you're reminded why...
Holy cow, it's good to be home...
