Around lunchtime I was driving home from Costco and my cell phone rang - the caller ID showed it was Radu. I about had a coronary.
The conversation went something like this:
Radu: Hi!
Me: Hi Radu!
Radu: Are you driving?
Me: Yes
Radu: When will you be home?
Me: In about 10 minutes. Do you have a referral?!?!
Radu: I need information. I need you to be at your computer. Call me when you get home.
Me: Ok. I'll call you in about 10 mins. (thinking: huh? WTF?)
Okay, if that didn't get my heart racing. I drove like a bat out of hell to get home to my beloved laptop. I picked up the phone and dialed Radu. He says "did you see my email?" I'm like "no, I haven't gotten it yet!" And then it popped up, with "referral" in the re: line. I said "you tricked me!" I think he's had plenty of experience with adoptive mothers and had the notion that I might kill myself trying to get home to my computer if he had said there was a referral waiting. Little does he know that I about killed myself anyway... Then he was gone. I sat there bawling my brains out and called Cory to get his ass home ASAP. He had just given his first presentation at a Fit Life conference and was trying to decompress by the pool. Hey, there will be NO relaxing here buddy! He rushed home and we poured over the two pics of our baby girl and the details of her short little life so far...
As of now, we know she's 8 months old and healthy. I love this little paragraph about her (especially the part about her sleep). And laughing is a MUST:
She is an active young infant with an adequate growth and development. She has a good appetite and enjoys a normal sleep cycle. She rolls over. She supports herself on wrists and shifts her weight. She reaches with arms in unison. She brings hands to midline. She laughs aloud and orients to voice. She anticipates feeding on sight.
And her pics make us want to melt. I took video of Cory and I viewing her pics for the first time (I'll try to post that soon, but I'm kinda new at this). I swear, all we could do is stare and take her in. Cory (poor soul) had to go back to work this evening and I've been completely incapacitated for the entire afternoon. How does one focus? This is crazy!

From another Adoption Avenues Client (who just received her referral today)....CONGRATULATIONS. I'm still on a high from this morning. Such a surreal feeling seeing your child for the first time through a picture. But oh how we instantly fall in love with them.
I also saw your post on the ET restaurant here in PDX. I go to Burqitu which is one block from the place you went. There are TONS of ET restaurants to choose from here. I'm so lucky.
May our wait for court to re-open go fast.
