Blogging...

Until recently, actually not until we started the adoption process, did I have a clue what a blog was...and then once I learned what one was, I didn't understand the purpose of putting a part of your life out there for all to see.  I mean really...why would anyone care?  I originally started our blog as an informational tool for our friends and family and to make our lives easier by not having to explain the process of adoption over and over and over again.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  :)

Now that I've stepped into the world of bloggers, I often find myself stalking the lives of other people, tracking what goes on in the world of international adoption.  Everyone has a unique story and they are all fascinating, encouraging, thought-provoking, or inspiring in one way or another.  In fact, reading a post from another blog is what inspired me to write this entry.  Sometimes I feel like I'm following several soap operas...maybe they help me escape my own.

Reading a recent post brought me to grips with how important blogs have been for me during the adoption process.  I feel like I've made new friends, even though most of them don't know I exist.  :)  I've learned about the culture of Ethiopia, the technicalities of processing paperwork, the emotions of waiting, the ins and outs of travel, the ups and downs of attachment, and which diapers to buy.  Take a look at some of the blogs I have listed.  Regardless of all the trials and tribulations of adoption, there's some amazing families being created out there...

I'm with you. I hadn't blogged until the adoption but now I have to admit, I'm a blog stalker and I think I have a problem. Is there a support group for this? :)
