The social worker came by the house today - it was a bit of an impromptu visit. She basically just needed to come by and see the house in order to complete the home study. She called on Thursday to see if she could come by today, since she was going to be in Bend meeting with another adoptive couple. Considering we had a really busy week, the house was a disaster, so we frantically cleaned today in order to get the house in order. :) It was looking GREAT and smelling GREAT, thanks to the new tart burner Tracey bought me for my birthday. Thanks Tracey! Those things are cool!
Our visit went really well - she arrived with her husband, and we gave them a tour of the house. She also showed us pictures of all the children they've adopted - what a beautiful colorful family they have! They only stayed about 20 minutes, and then they were on their way...so basically our home study is DONE! YAY! She's going to drop it off at the adoption agency on Monday.
So right now we're waiting for one marriage certificate to return from the Lieutenant Governor's office in Hawaii, where it's being authenticated (that one will go to Ethiopia). Another copy of our marriage certificate is coming for our immigration paperwork. Once our marriage certificate is back, we can send out our immigration forms with it, our birth certificates, and home study for processing, and they'll contact us regarding fingerprinting. We also are almost ready to send all of our notarized documents to Salem so that they can be authenticated too. We just have to get a few more things notarized, get everything together including the home study, and then send it off. Basically, all documents need to be authenticated by the state department of where they were notarized. Once everything's been authenticated, we can send in our dossier to Ethiopia! A little confusing, huh?
So little by little we're moving right along...
