miruts

Miruts: an Ethiopian name meaning "chosen one." And we have a little chosen one for our house. A little elf showed up at our house the other morning. (In case you haven't heard about Elf on a Shelf, it's this new craze for Christmas which is A LOT of fun! There's the commercial version where you buy the elf with a book, and DVD if you want, and it tells the story of your elf that comes to live with you until Christmas. The elf watches over your child and reports back to Santa each night on whether or not he/she is being good. Each morning the elf shows up in a different place, but the main rule is that the elf can't be touched or it loses its magic.) I thought this would be a good idea since Weredesh keeps insisting that Santa can't see her since he's not in the house. (She's way too smart.) So our little Miruts showed up on our hearth yesterday morning with a letter from Santa (I created my own version, and sorry it's sideways, but I can't figure out how to rotate it):
Well...that afternoon before nap Weredesh had a complete meltdown/temper tantrum and Miruts had to leave early. He left her this letter:
I think she then got the idea. She was sad that little Miruts had to leave and was an angel (well kind of) the rest of the afternoon. Miruts appeared the next morning and was working on a little coloring project when we got up. :)
Stay tuned to see where Miruts shows up next...
