Weredesh is HUGE on routines these days. Routines are very important at this stage of development. So important that she THRIVES on them. And the other night I realized how much.
She was being her usual procrastinating two-year old self and it was getting way past bedtime. I told her she needed to get her butt moving, because we had a lot to do to get ready for bed! So while I'm grabbing her diaper, her pajamas, etc., she's sitting over on her couch mumbling to herself all the things we had to do to get ready for bed.
(In a mumbly talking-to-yourself matter-of-fact kind of voice):
go potty
wash hands wash
brush teeth
abide (that's how she pronounces fluoride)
diaper
jammas (pajamas)
book
boo ny nyte
blankie
pillow
group hug
lights
moon moon
Ellie
music
row row boat
I was CRACKING UP listening to her go on and on! And I don't know what was funnier - the list, or her going on and on about it!
And I know you might not understand all those things, but we do and know that we can NOT forget ONE of those things each night or all hell breaks loose. We have to be extra careful too not to let her add anything at this point, or we'll find ourselves a few months from now doing 125 necessary things before bed.
