it's official!
As of January 21st, Weredesh was officially adopted in the U.S.!!! WOOHOO!!! We have an adoption ceremony before the judge scheduled for March 1st, where they will present a formal certificate - the ceremony is just a formality (not required, but requested by the adoptive parents) and will give due closure to the process. As for the domestic adoption process, I did this myself and ordered forms through Robin Elizabeth Pope Attorney at Law. She specializes in adoption law and provides a step-by-step do-it-yourself program which I found easy to follow and was at a third of the price of hiring a lawyer to do it for you. Our forms have also been submitted for her new birth certificate. She will receive a State of Oregon birth certificate which shows her new name, Weredesh Corbin Skye Zeltins. We can now also apply for her U.S. passport (although I just love her Ethiopian one) and update her social security card which will complete all of her U.S. documents. Isn't that just GRAND!?! :) WEEEEEE!!!!!
