leap frog

I'm still working on getting San Diego pictures up on my blog, but in the meantime (maybe it's the teacher in me) I've been SO excited with Weredesh's language development. Even her teachers are amazed at how much progress she made just over the Thanksgiving break! Putting together two and three word sentences and her vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds!

We have several Leap Frog toys, but this is our favorite right now. She actually received this when we first brought her home a year ago and she used to just throw the magnets around the house, but is now getting into what it's really about. It's a little magnet toy you put on the refrigerator and each letter of the alphabet is also a magnet. You pop a letter in the toy and it plays a little song about the letter. It also plays the alphabet song. Last night she was able to recognize B, O, and L! She even says L for Lola (her grandma). When the music plays, she dances around in circles in the kitchen so proud of herself. It's so dang cute. Can you believe she's already TWO?!? I can't...

I think all of this amazes me so much because you would not believe how many children come into elementary school as kindergartners and have never even heard the alphabet or cannot recognize any letters. It's scary. It dumbfounds me because by the age of two I think Weredesh has heard the alphabet a million times already. And she thrives on learning like I think every little one does...just takes some nourishment...(ok, I'll get off my soapbox).

Anyways, here's a link to the toy if you're interested...
