plop plop plop

Some things (many things) you learn about parenting, you end up learning the hard way. We've unofficially entered the happy world of potty training. We haven't full-fledged dedicated ourselves to getting Weredesh to go on the potty, but I'd say we're in the "let's-get-to-know-the-potty" stage. She's very good at recognizing when she has gone in her diaper and will always tell us "poo poo" whether she's gone poo or pee and will run to the toilet, get out her step stool, and put her potty seat on the toilet. However, by then it's after the fact. So this morning she gave me the typical "poo poo" chant and we ran over to the toilet. I knew she hadn't gone yet, so we got out the step stool, put on the potty seat, and set her up on the toilet. This could be our shining moment! After a couple of minutes she said "all done" although there was no poop in the potty. She then insisted that she was all done, so I took her off the potty to walk her over to the laundry room to put on her diaper. As I'm carrying her over I hear "plop plop plop" and in the corner of my eye catch something hitting the floor down below my feet. In mid-air poop is flying toward the carpet - PLOP PLOP PLOP! Wasn't she just sitting on the toilet 5 seconds ago? Note to self: keep diapers by the potty, NOT all the way in the laundry room. Duh.

OK, I am totally cracking up, only because I know someday I will learn the hard way as well. :)

I haven't checked in lately and am trying to catch up on your blog. This post made me laugh out loud. I think most moms who have gone through the potty training stage can relate to this experience at some level.

Oh my gosh, thanks for the laugh. That is so funny. I will have to remember to keep diapers near the potty for when Sabah is ready to give potty training a shot.
