Weredesh went the whole day yesterday without ONE bottle! Or should I say that I did? I've come to realize that it's been ME that's been needing to get off the bottle. Bottles have become so convenient - when you're at the store and she's hungry, you can just pop one out and feed on the run. Now it looks like I'm going to have to do a lot more singing along with bucking up and planning a little better because she's totally ready to eat just solid food. She likes to drink her milk from a straw, but not so much sippy cups. She could never figure out that she had to tilt the cup back, so she would just throw it to the floor because she couldn't get anything out of it. She never got into whining or asking for a bottle, so I don't even think she notices the difference.
I have to admit that I got a bit sappy yesterday at the thought of never holding my little baby girl again with a bottle - it's such a sweet ritual. They way she would look up into my eyes, suckling away. And she always wanted mommy and daddy to hold the bottle, never wanted to hold it by herself. But now she's becoming such a big girl!
Oh, which reminds me. Weredesh might start preschool in about a week! A girlfriend of mine told me of her former nanny who has just started a Montessori school for 0-3 yr. olds. We were excited about possibly starting Weredesh in September. But Chrissy just recently changed her schedule at work and will be working mornings, therefore I needed to find someone to watch Weredesh the last two weeks of school (first two weeks of June). After talking with the owner of the preschool we arranged a meeting for next Thursday because she said she would be more than happy to start her for those two weeks and then have her back in the fall. I thought it would be a great trial period for Weredesh. We're really excited to get her into a learning environment especially since it's only for half days. Weredesh is SO active and just loves to explore new things constantly. What a great way for her to get a good social experience and learn all kinds of new things to boot!
