how's she doin?

FANTABULOUS!

Weredesh continues to amaze us each and every day - her joyful spirit, sense of humor, and everyday physical and mental growth. She's now 22.5 lbs. and 28.5 inches tall. I think she grows out of clothes on a daily basis. How is it that one outfit can fit on Friday and then be completely too small by Saturday?

She's walking better and better everyday. Starting to bend her knees and getting away from the Frankenstein walk. I think the number of falls on her butt has decreased from about 100 a day to 50. :) Good thing she has that big padded diaper to cushion the blow. She's been eating more and more solid foods, but still enjoys her bottle. Feeding hasn't necessarily become any easier though. She prefers to snack on the run and really isn't into formal meals. :) Can a child subsist on fruit and cheese? Because they're pretty much all she would eat, if possible. To get some variety in her diet we have to resort to singing. She will be completely stubborn, turning her head, and not cooperating, and as soon as I open my mouth and start singing she looks at me with big round eyes and opens her mouth and I start shoveling it in. It's like a switch is flipped as soon as the singing starts. She goes into a trance. And I KNOW it's not my amazing voice.

She's been sleeping like a log which has been SUPER nice. In bed by 7:30 every night and usually up around 6:30 (which is a little early for us, but if she's sleeping 11 hours straight, we're not complaining).

Going back to work has been good, and my girlfriend Chrissy has started a new job, but we've worked it out so that we can trade child care which has been a lifesaver. I couldn't imagine leaving her with anyone else right now. Weredesh goes to Chrissy's in the morning and plays with Gavin until her afternoon nap. In the afternoon Chrissy goes to work and I bring Weredesh and Gavin over here and they play the rest of the day. Our schedules couldn't coincide more perfectly.

She babbles like crazy and understands so much of what we say already. Such as:

"Go get your baby."
"Where's Ayla?"
"Let's go upstairs." (She goes up and down with no assistance, but of course with backup.)
"Let's brush your teeth."
"Wanna take a a bath?"

Those are just a few of the things she knows. She's very smart and loves books! Her favorite right now is Curious George and the Bunny which she can now entirely sit through and turns the pages at just the right time. :)

Her eyes have improved a bit, but the doctor thinks she will surely need surgery to correct the crossing. It's important for us to correct her vision first and I'm still kinda confused on all this, but we're going to continue putting drops in her strong eye to weaken it, forcing her to use her right eye (the one that is lazy) in an attempt to strengthen the eye muscles. We'll be giving this 2 more months to see if anything improves. She's VERY good at wearing her glasses though, and has actually gotten upset (cried) before when she accidentally took them off. I think she's finally realized that she can see better with them. YAY Weredesh!

Cory and I are convinced that she is the most adorable and delightful creature on Earth. She's had a profound impact on our family and we had no idea what we were in for when we entered this beautiful thing called parenthood.
