Weredesh

things...

are going absolutely beautifully this week other than the severe sleep deprivation. For some reason, Weredesh has decided that 5am is a good hour to wake up so that she can spend as much time with mommy and daddy before they go to work! And she's still waking 1-2 times a night to eat - and man does she eat! (we measured her height last night and she's grown 2.5 inches in 2.5 months!) We, of course, would prefer daytime feeding as opposed to midnight or 3 am. But I just keep telling myself that this will pass and make sure I get myself to bed at a decent hour. Monday night I was in bed at 7:30! Cory's not as disciplined and so I think he's feeling it more than I am.

Being back at work has actually been okay! I think the Sunday before going back was worse than the actual first day back, because of the fear of the unknown and the dread of giving up the long vacation with Weredesh. TMy first day back was kinda fun though, being with the kids again and focusing on something other than diapers, bottles and naps. Not that that's not fun too, but a little variety in the day is nice. I think it's good for the both of us. And she is doing AMAZINGLY well with my girlfriend Chrissy and baby Gavin. She plays all morning and takes her naps there and I pick her up after her nap. She's only had minor meltdowns, but as soon as Chrissy puts the music on, the girl gets busy! Her favorite is the Laurie Berkner Band, and if you haven't heard this catchy kids' music, beware. There have been many nights I've had "Victor Vito" playing over and over in my head preventing me from getting back to sleep.

Weredesh got her glasses this week and is doing SUCH a good job wearing them. Only occasionally does she try to remove them, but I think it's more to play with them rather than because they're bothering her. All you have to do is distract her with something and she forgets they're even there. Now everything she does looks very scientific. I took a video this morning, so I'll be sure to get that up by the weekend. I really didn't think she could get any cuter, but WOW is she adorable in those glasses!!!

This past weekend we also had our first follow-up homestudy. The social worker was so pleased to see how well Weredesh is doing developmentally and recognized all the healthy signs of attachment. One thing I learned about attachment that I thought was interesting: she asked us if we knew if Weredesh had been attached to anyone prior to us. My thoughts had leaned toward no, since when we first met her she easily came to us and didn't seem upset at all that we were taking her away. It was just another day. But the social worker thought different. She said that Weredesh was probably attached to someone (possibly an orphanage worker) which was why she was so trusting and not worried when we first held her. Hmmm...interesting...But anyways, it's good that she was attached to someone because that means she knew HOW to attach to people. Therefore, making our attachment process pretty smooth. She is WAY attached to mom and dad at this point.

On top of all that, grandma Lola was in town for a week (a couple of weeks ago) from Phoenix, and Uncle Ryan and Aunt Shelly (this past weekend) as well. It's been a busy few weeks!

Pictures to come soon...
