ciao ciao le toukoul

Wednesday was Weredesh's last day at Le Toukoul orphanage.  Some photos of the orphanage:

Before we checked her out of the orphanage, we met with the doctor regarding her health.  Looking at her records, she had been fighting the ear infections for a few months.  The doctor assured us that there was nothing to worry about with the ear infections and flying.  That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard.  Can you say ruptured ear drum?  The appt. ended up being pretty worthless.  We thought she would examine her and give us a lot more feedback.  Basically, she wrote us a prescription for Amoxicillin (even though you can buy any prescription medications over the counter) - the same antibiotic that she had taken 2 other times that didn't work.

The nanny that brought Weredesh out that day had a really hard time letting go, knowing that she would never see her again.  It's evident that the babies there are well cared for and the nannies are attached - that part of the job must be painful.  From how happy Weredesh is, you can tell she's had lots of attention in her first year of life.  Here is a video of the nanny handing her over to us for the last time (excuse some of the sideways video):

The rest of the week was spent either at the guest house or exploring a bit of Ethiopia...more tomorrow....zzzzzzz.......
